The Victorian Gothic decoration of the church stands as a superb monument to the craftsmen of that time, but to embrace the current function of the church, the opportunity arose to design a new Paschal candle holder.
I took as a theme ‘Baptised by fire and water’. The two interlocking limbs form the shape of a fish surmounted by a copper dish for the candle. The large sculpture has within the laminated limbs, a section of lead set within the base to aid stability. The smaller pair of candle holders are to stand upon the altar.
